October Awareness Month

#1: Breast Cancer Awareness

Though there are so many amazing things to keep in mind while reading through every awareness campaign for the month of October, there are three that we would love to highlight today. Our first spotlight is Breast Cancer Awareness. Did you know that about 1 in 8 women will develop invasive breast cancer? We bring awareness to this cause because it affects so many and we want to help you educate yourself on how to take a stand against this horrible form of cancer. Early detection of breast cancer creates a much higher survival rate, so we encourage you to take the measures necessary to stay on top of your health and wellness by getting regular physicals and making necessary doctors appointments. We also encourage you to help researchers toward finding a cure by donating whenever you are able to!

This month, you may see our Belleza team members wearing pink. Every time someone wears pink, $5 will be donated to the St. Charles Karen Weidinger Foundation.

#2: Down Syndrome Awareness

Down Syndrome Awareness Month is a great time to reflect on everyone's amazing capabilities and celebrate the beauty of unique differences! Everyone has big dreams and there are absolutely no limits for those who have down syndrome. A few of the most recent inspiring stories among our nation include Chelsea Werner, a famous gymnast and model, and Kate Grant, a model for Benefit Cosmetics- both beautifully defying the stigma around down syndrome.

Do you want to raise awareness too? If you ever get the chance, we encourage you to provide support by joining the New York City Buddy Walk that helps raise donations and awareness to this amazing cause.

You may remember the great uproar Belleza had in 2019 when we offered blue hair extensions for donations and awareness relating to this cause. We absolutely loved supporting our community by giving back. Another highlight of this occurred when our stylist Noel's daughter came in for a cute little blue hair extension as featured below!

#3: Domestic Violence Awareness

Domestic violence is something that affects both, men and women across the world. Did you know that 3 out of 4 people know someone who has been affected by domestic violence in some form? The idea behind bringing awareness to this cause, is eliminating the stigma behind it and bringing a voice to those in need. If you know someone who needs help and you are able to assist them, let them know they are in a safe space with you. If you want to show your support for Domestic Violence Awareness, wear purple during the month of October.
